About the event
Presented by Sonic Cinema & Hearing Support Bay of Plenty, join us at The Village Community Cinema for our first Open Captioned Sunday Matinee.
Starring Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren, THE DUKE is an uplifting and inspiring British film set in the 1960's, based on the true story of Kempton Bunton, a 60 year old taxi driver, who stole Goya's portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. Bunton sent random notes stating he would return the painting on the condition that the government invested more in care for the elderly. What happened next became the stuff of legend!
This film screening will have assistive written captioned text on the cinema screen, describing all auditory speech and sounds throughout the duration of the film, providing an inclusive viewing experience for those with hearing loss.
