About the event

Celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival at the Incubator with the Tauranga Chinese Culture & Arts Hub.

In Chinese tradition the Dragon Boat festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is celebrated by eating zongzi, drinking realgar wine, and racing dragon boats.

In this workshop we'll be making zongzi! Zongzi, is a traditional Chinese food, made of glutinous and sticky rice stuffed with different fillings. We’ll be using red bean paste filling and wrapping the rice in bamboo, reed, or other large flat leaves. They are cooked by steaming or boiling. In the Western world, they are also known as rice dumplings, or sticky rice dumplings.
